Six to eight weeks out
- Confirm the site map: entries, stalls, rides, toilets, first aid, lost kids, parking.
- List sponsors and collect their logos (vector files if possible).
- Decide your colours: school colours or a fete theme.
- Set a signage budget. A useful starting kit is below.
The starter kit
| Item | Why | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 20 corflute signs, 600×900 | Directions and stall names | $350 |
| Pair of 4 × 1 m fence banners | Promote the fete for weeks beforehand | $328 |
| 2 teardrop flags (small, both sides) | Mark the main entrance | $224 each |
| 3×3 printed marquee | Info, raffle and lost-kids tent | $1,032 |
Four weeks out
- Order your signage. Allow time for the proof, committee approval, production and delivery.
- Hang the fence banners as soon as they arrive.
- Share the event on the school newsletter with a QR code to the program.
Signage tips
- Leave dates off directional signs so they can be reused every year.
- Use arrows and big, short words: TOILETS, FIRST AID, RIDES.
- Put a sponsor logo on each stall sign; it is an easy way to thank them.
- Choose 5 mm corflute for signs that live on fences.
Fete day
- Bring cable ties, star pickets, a mallet and gaffer tape.
- Weigh every marquee leg (10 kg or more).
- Take photos of the signage for next year's committee.
After the fete
Dry everything before packing, store signs flat and label the box. Next year, you will only need to update the dated items. See the products on our school fete banners page.
